Holistic Rehab for Women

While the term “holistic treatment” is commonly used in the context of drug and alcohol recovery, most people do not know what it entails and who it can help. It is generally agreed upon in the medical world that a truly holistic approach treats the entire person, not just the disease or its symptoms.

Addiction recovery that takes a holistic approach complements rather than replaces traditional treatments. Holistic treatments are effective in reducing withdrawal symptoms, providing coping mechanisms to help prevent relapse, addressing mental health and emotional concerns, and boosting physical health, spiritual fulfillment, and overall quality of life, in addition to the more conventional evidence-based treatments like CBT and MAT.

What is Holistic Rehab?

Holistic rehab is a type of addiction treatment that takes a more comprehensive approach to recovery. This rehab program focuses on the whole person rather than just the addiction itself. Instead of focusing on just one symptom or trait, a holistic addiction treatment method considers the entire individual. Holistic therapy programs are designed to better the client entirely rather than only treating some of their symptoms or bad habits.

There has been a significant rise in interest in integrating holistic therapy programs with standard practices in drug addiction treatment. A client’s mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health are all given equal weight in a “holistic treatment,” which is sometimes referred to as a “whole person” approach to care. As a result, the core tenet of holistic recovery centers is that one’s biochemical, neurochemical, emotional, and spiritual selves are all intertwined.

Traditional psychotherapy is combined with holistic methods in the form of counseling, known as “holistic psychotherapy.” For instance, holistic psychotherapy can involve components of more traditional talk therapies like psychoanalysis and cognitive behavioral therapy with novel approaches like hypnosis and breathwork. These therapies are now commonly used in public and private inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment programs and private holistic addiction therapy offices to aid recovery.

What are the Benefits of Holistic Rehab for Women?

There are many benefits that holistic rehab for women offers, as it takes a comprehensive approach to treating addiction and mental health disorders. This treatment can help women heal physically, mentally, and emotionally while addressing any underlying issues that may have contributed to their addiction. Holistic rehab can also give women the tools they need to maintain sobriety after drug addiction treatment and support their overall wellness.

Solving a problem by considering it from only one angle rarely results in finding and removing all underlying tensions. For instance, avoiding situations that make one think about drinking is an excellent way to stay sober. Other benefits include:

  1. Learning to manage stress and relieve anxiety
  2. Getting a spiritual connection
  3. Relapse prevention
  4. Better overall health
  5. Increased self-esteem and identity
